The Iceland sailors are safe and sound, having arrived back on schedule at Clifden yesterday (July 30). There was a warm wellcome for the tired but happy sailors as they completed the trip with a pleasant sail from Inishbofin. There was a small party on board in the Bay, followed by a wonderful celebratory dinner in Katherine Lowery's house in nearby Ballinaboy.
Nick, his brother, his nephew, his cousin and Paul are all well and in good spirits, despite the demanding adventure. The most difficult part of the trip was the final few days in Irish waters, when southwesterly gales meant slow progress and sheltering at the Inishkeas (feeding on crabs) and Achill Sound. The stop-over in InishTurk (North) was very enjoyable. Now everybody is having a well-deserved rest.
